Abstract
This paper explores how generative AI, combined with the IDEATRIZ framework, can enhance creativity in industrial design students when developing innovative household appliances. The objective is to assess the role of AI tools in facilitating creativity and design thinking. The methodology involves hands-on experiments where students apply generative AI to ideation and product development, with IDEATRIZ guiding their creative process. Initially, students found the use of AI challenging, but as they practiced, they became more proficient in leveraging these tools to generate practical design solutions. Text-to-text AI tools assisted in ideation, while text-to-image tools enhanced the visualization of product aesthetics. The research demonstrates that integrating external market insights with internal creative processes through IDEATRIZ significantly improves human-centered innovation. The findings also suggest that while this approach is effective, further refinement is needed to streamline the integration of AI with design methods, ensuring smoother ideation and enhanced contemporary design outcomes.
