Abstract

This Paper discusses the impact of the Fourth industrial revolution technologies on industrial design education. Due to technological advances like artificial intelligence, machine learning, 3D printing and virtual environments, industrial designers now require more technological knowledge and collaborative skills to cope with this revolution. Industrial design teachers must implement new techniques and innovative methods to prepare their students. This study aims to degradative impact of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies on the competencies that graduates of industrial design acquire, as expressed in the National Academic Reference Standard (NARS).

Finally, this study has successfully unveiled the profound influence of the advanced technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, namely Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, visual and augmented reality, and Additive Manufacturing, on the Field of industrial design education.
